New York!

Well, our New York trip was nothing short of adventurous! Our flight was perfect and we arrived at JFK around 8pm, took an (awful) lyft ride to our airbnb we had booked (and been in contact with numerous times that week/day). Well, we were left sitting in an ice cream shop next door until 1 am when a family friend picked us up because our airbnb host never met up with us to let us inside. Easy to say that between our exhaustion, a crying baby, one of the worst days of the year for us, and a failed airbnb, we were beyond annoyed. On the positive side, Carter did awesome on his first plane ride!

So, once we got to our family friend's house, we tried to sleep, but it didn't go as great as we had hoped. I was up all night sick and Carter was up every hour and a half. The next day we booked a new airbnb and explained to her the situation, and how we really didn't want to drive back into the city unless she was actually going to meet us. Anyways, a few hours later we were downstairs in the apartment building and had to check in with the man at the desk. He informed us airbnb was not allowed in these apartments. To say we were annoyed is the understatement of the century. I called airbnb and they were able to book us with a super host that was in New Jersey. This apartment was perfect! We absolutely loved staying there. Check out this view!

Although it wasn't a block from times square, we were still able to take the ferry in and hop on our double Decker bus right there. So by day 2 we finally had an airbnb to stay in and were able to start our adventures. Which there were a LOT of! We did everything! Times Square, Central Park, The Museum of Natural History, 9/11 Memorial, Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Center, and Grand Central Terminal. My favorite was a tie between Central Park & Ellis Island and Matt's favorite was Rockefeller Center/Top of the Rock. Our favorite place we ate at was Mighty Quinn's BBQ. They had the absolute best mac n cheese and Matt loved their BBQ brisket sandwich! We also ate at Shake Shack because you can never go wrong with their burgers and shakes. It was cold, but we were bundled so it was completely bearable! Carter was bundled in an adorable polar bear snow suit! Except for my feet, they were always cold! Carter was such a good boy during this trip. He had his moments, but for the most part he was awesome. I carried him most of the time in our Infantino carrier, while Matt carried his backpack. Usually we use a regular diaper bag, because it doubles as my purse, but with everything we needed to take each day, it was so nice having the backpack and all of the space! We were all so tired at the end of our trip, and are looking foreword to next December when we go on our next family vacation. Be sure to watch the video below!
