A letter to my growing son
You have turned our world around. You are one of our greatest gifts in this life. You made us a momma and daddy again, and you will always have that place in our hearts. I promise to always try to do right by you. You don’t know or realize yet that you didn’t grow inside my tummy. Even though we have been together from the moment you were born, you had another mother first. I will tell you all about that Godly weekend when you are a little bit older. It might make you sad sometimes, thinking about her. Your first mother was strong and courageous. It is okay to wonder, it is okay to miss her. She loves you, and she loved you enough to know that she couldn’t take care of you. She chose us to be your parents because she knew that we would make the best family, and she was right. I know that you will be sad sometimes, have doubts and fears, but we want you to know that you are so loved. You are loved by so many people, but most importantly, you have God who loves you more then any of us can imagine (which is hard to believe considering how much this momma loves you). To us, there is no doubt in our minds you were meant to be ours, and that you always will be ours. We have loved you before we even knew about you. We prayed and prayed for you, and God matched us perfectly. We would do anything for you. You are our son. We are different in many ways but are alike in so many other ways. You and Daddy could pass for twins, especially with your birth marks! I see so much of your daddy’s goofy personality in you already. I love everything you do (although, the screaming could be toned down a bit). You are growing older every minute and there are times when that breaks my heart, and times that it makes me so incredibly excited. I dream about your first steps, your first words, taking you to see everything this world has to offer. The thought about one day coming home and seeing you playing catch with your daddy brings me into tears. I can't wait to watch you grow into the person that God has made you to become. I pray daily that you will live a life that brings happiness and joy, that you won't let fear or discouragement stop you from chasing your dreams. That you will worship God and one day (a day that I pray is very far away- way after momma & dad are long gone) that you will get to meet your sweet brothers in Heaven. That you will know without a doubt, that you are worth so much more then what this world might make you believe. I have so many hopes and dreams for you, but the greatest is that you will always know how much you are wanted and loved. You can do anything you set your mind to. We will be here for you every step of the way-when you fall down, when you fail, when you succeed, when your heart breaks, and when it soars.
